In traditional mythologies throughout the world, we human beings are both evil and good inherently, but tend to reject our evil aspects in order to please our narcissistic egos. This act of self-rejection/denial renders us substantially dysfunctional. The only way out is to not only admit our tendencies to evil but love them unconditionally. Once we have done that we can observe ourselves and others without judgment and live in perpetual inner peace. This is the basis of all forms of salvation.

I've seen Derek Acorah's live performance and I've personally found them to be quite entertaining. Although I do believe a lot of what goes on in Most Haunted is absolute tripe, I do think he is a genuine psychic when it comes to his readings.

It is my opinion that the term "authentic" when applied to any martial art simply means the teaching is consistent with the originators viewpoint and the lineage from the originator to the "authentic" teacher, sensi or sifu is intact as opposed to someone who never actually learned the style in point teaching it based on their intrepretation of the forms and movements.

I think all martial arts have their value and the art chosen should be in harmony with the students temperment, objectives and physiology.

There is nothing wrong with "interpretations" as such in my humble opinion but if someone says "I teach authentic whatever" I naturally assume they are a disciple of a disciple ultimately leading back to the originator and they have chosen to maintain the actual teachings of that particular style as opposed to a modification or intrepretation of it.

Oh Richard, how well you have given shape to my own feelings and habits too. I am quite moved by your title there, a deep part of me found recognition with that need. I have a tendency to control myself quite strongly, punishing myself just as harshly when I am unable to live up to the ideals I set for myself. And you're right. Who says I have to live up to those ideals at all? Where did they come from? We can use inquiry to discover these things, like old Buddha said - great doubt, great faith..

I find it very intriguing there, that use of imagined rules. It's a great insight.

So, I guess then, if we're still afraid to take the leash off, at the least we could treat ourselves like a kite being held by a string, rather than a dog with a choke-chain. Mmm, that's good imagery, I like that.

Hi Angela,

Glad you enjoyed it! Currently I'm still on Wordpress.com, though once I finish getting some hosting setup I'll be pointing my domain to a new site using the download version of Wordpress from wordpress.org.

I hope to gain some flexibility, and and get Sitquietly hosted in the same place as the rest of the site.
